His Living Water
Shalom beloved,
After watching a recent teaching Taste your words by Kisha Gallagher the encounter with Yeshua and the Samaritan woman at the Well of Jacob came to mind.
We read about this Eternal Love proposal in John 4 where Yeshua was on His way to Galilee but decided to go via the city of Sychar in Samaria. He had an appointment with a woman who came to the well with her bucket to draw water at a time of day when nobody would normally go. We do not know much about her but that she had five husbands and the man she was with was also not her husband. So what actually happened at this encounter? Why did Yeshua go out of His way to come and meet with her?
Was it perhaps because of her situation? Could it be because of the verbal abuse, both subtle and harsh, she experienced by her previous husbands? Words of hurt, anger, shame and guilt. Then she also had to deal with the gossiping of the neighbours and people in her town. People who had no idea about what actually is happening in her life but was spreading news of things they do not understand.
“A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” Proverbs 15:1-4 NKJV
Words are powerful and we have a choice with every word spoken to either build up or break down. To choose life or to choose death.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
Yeshua came to meet with her to offer His Living Water, for He is the Word that washes us clean from all impurities. From the idle and false words spoken by the world. His word is life, truth and sweet honey which brings healing to the soul and spirit.
“Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-14 NKJV
But first she had to go call her husband. Ever wondered why? Ephesians 5 has the answer.
“For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Saviour of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:23-27 NKJV
The Samaritan woman yearned for the sweet words from her husbands, but no one could satisfy the thirst she had in her soul and spirit. She was yearning for the life giving Word of God to be spoken over her and to her. The Rhema and Logos words of God. Husbands are the priests of their homes and they have a responsibility to Abba Father, their wives and children to fulfil this role with the Word of God. Wives are to submit to their husband’s authority. Yeshua was offering her His Eternal Living Water. A Well that will never run dry as He is The Living Water. He is The One who wanted to be her eternal Husband, for only His Love can sanctify her to be blameless, righteous, redeemed and pure. He is the Only One whose words of Life washes her soul and spirit and removed all the idle and false words spoken into her soul and heart. His words brought healing to her crushed spirit. He is now her Covering, the Lover of her soul, her Salvation, her Inheritance, her Eternal. He completes her.
The Samaritan woman then left her bucket and ran into the city to call everyone to come and meet The Messiah at the well. She came to the well with her bucket as the vessel to draw water with and was transformed being the bucket as she drew the people from the city to the Well of The Living Water with the words of her testimony.
Beloved, wherever you are on your journey today, whether you have a relationship with Yeshua Messiah or still to be introduced to Him. Whatever your situation, past or present. I pray that you will meet with Yeshua The Messiah at the well of your heart and accept His proposal to be your Living Water. Read and meditate on His Word and allow Him to speak His words of life over you and into your heart. He is the Beginning and the End and He’s desire is to complete you.
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
Revelation 21:6 NKJV
And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
Revelation 22:17
Love,
