Something New
Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Saviour], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 AMP
A few weeks ago, I asked Abba what is the word for the new season we are entering into, and I heard NEW CREATION. I had a sense that this referred to everything new about who we are in Jesus Christ and the finished works of The Cross. That we need to step into the ALL of being a new creation and start focusing on this reality of being, new creation, our true identity in Yeshua our Messiah.
At sunset 29 September, we entered the new year of 5780 on the Hebraic calendar. We are three months away from stepping into the year 2020 on the Gregorian calendar. Both calendars are significantly entering into a new decade. Read more about the prophetic meanings of this new decade by clicking on the link prophetic-word-2020-5780
New years resolutions are commonly on everyone’s plans whether on paper or just in thought, with the intention to start the year off with new beginnings. The dreams, visions and plans we had for the previous year which was not accomplished, is moved to the new year. All in an effort to start off fresh with the new list of goals to accomplish for the new year.
A new decade, new year, new month, new day. We can start off every day, one step at a time with making changes to accomplish the new in our lives. We have the power to break the cycles in our lives that tend to overtake us year after year. Same like the Israelites wondering the dessert for 40 years which ultimately should have been an 11 day journey. Have you ever stopped and wondered why I am still walking around this same mountain? How long am I still going to endure this same mountain in my life? Or have we accepted this to be the norm? Beloved, there is so much more goodness in store for our lives. The Word is clear, that God only has good plans for our lives. “ ‘For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord , ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.’ ” JEREMIAH 29:11 AMP. Why do we tend to continue partnering with the lies of this world to influence these very plans God has for our lives?
How do we get out of this cycle? How do we break these patterns from our lives? This is a conscious decision we have to make to break the cycle and patterns. It could be a sinful habit that you are struggling to break. Ungodly behaviours we have been living with for years and accepted as only being human. Little lies that we tell that actually are untruthful utterances not aligning with the Word of God. False doctrines and beliefs we have partnered with and not consulting the Word of God and Holy Spirit for the Truth and direction for our lives. We will be judged for every idle word spoken. What does the words look like coming from our lips and this includes praying for others, spreading news about people, false testimonies, gossiping etc. The intension of our hearts are what Abba sees, for the issues of life flows from the heart. What are in our hearts? Is it pleasing to our Abba Father?
Then God said, “Let there be light-bearers (sun, moon, stars) in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be useful for signs (tokens) [of God’s provident care], and for marking seasons, days, and years; and let them be useful as lights in the expanse of the heavens to provide light on the earth”; and it was so, [just as He commanded]. God made the two great lights--the greater light (the sun) to rule the day, and the lesser light (the moon) to rule the night; He made the [galaxies of] stars also [that is, all the amazing wonders in the heavens]. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to provide light upon the earth, to rule over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good and He affirmed and sustained it. And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. GENESIS 1:14-19 AMP
On the 4th day of creation, God created time with seasons, days and years. Time has a beginning and end, resulting in starting again with a new cycle – new name (day, month, year, season) – new beginning. This happens every day, week, month, year and season of our lives. The natural creation has many lessons for us to take note off. Lessons of dying, purging, pruning, process, shedding off the dry and dead leaves, life cycles, seasons. New life always comes after death. Something new always comes from a process endured by a life cycle. Look at the caterpillar transforming into a butterfly after being locked in a cocoon, dying to being a worm and in all the messiness taking on the DNA of the butterfly. Even after this process, the butterfly has to wiggle its way out of the cocoon to strengthen its wings for flying. How about a grain of sand caught in the mouth of an oyster and with irritation transformed into a pearl. What about the seeds sown into the soil and after months, years and seasons of watering and nourishing, it grows into a beautiful vineyard of grapes, harvested for crushing into wine. Life is about process, patterns and cycles. We have to choose whether we are going to yield to the process of what Abba Father has in store for us. Not our process, not our transformation, but the works that He is doing inside of us. We are all different for He has made us uniquely as His children. We are made to reflect the uniqueness of His Image to this world. Thus we all will go through a different process, a different life cycle chosen for each of our own journeys to bear fruitful fruits.
God is the One who does the work in our lives. Holy Spirit is our guide, teacher, counsellor leading us through the process of the life cycle to transform us into the perfect character of Yeshua Messiah. We cannot do this without His guidance for He has the blueprint for each of our lives. Yeshua is the Perfect DNA and we are grafted into Him. We are a new creation in Him. This happened when we accepted Jesus Christ (Yeshua) as our Lord and Saviour at salvation. Our spirit man IS NEW. The process of transformation into the new man, is now happening with our soul. This is the part of us that has to be renewed daily. Romans 12:1-2. Every time we enter into a new life cycle, we need to lay down our lives and surrender to God’s plan for our lives. Maturity is a process, but we have to surrender and allow Holy Spirit to facilitate the process. The rewards will only be seen and appreciated at the other side of the cycle. Same as we walk through a year from beginning to end.
Everyone has been created uniquely and we all have a blue print for our lives. Our Creator, Abba Father, knows us intimately. He knows the very depths of our hearts, even the unknown spaces we are not even yet aware of. Therefore, He knows how to refine us and which process is required – for He made us. For one person, He might choose to attend Bible school. Another might be on a journey where He is the teacher. God speaks to us all in unique and different ways according to how we are masterly crafted together. We all learn differently. We all communicate differently. We all have different gifts and talents. So He responds differently to all of us in our uniqueness and loves us for who we are in our uniqueness. So there is no need to compete, compare, measure against each other or have titles and positions to categorise ourselves from one another. This is not a Kingdom way of living. Jealously and strive is not from God. Categories is not from God. We are all equal in God’s Kingdom as sons and daughters with different assignments chosen by Abba Father for our own journeys.
A New You
As we prepare our hearts for the new season of 5780/ 2020 decades, reflect on the pass year and take stock of where you are at on your journey. Ask Holy Spirit to guide you as you reflect on Abba Father’s will for your life. Transformation is a conscious process.
- Look back on your journey and take note of how much you have grown in Christ Jesus. Thank Him for what He has done in you.
- Thank God for all He has done for you – answered prayers, blessings big and small.
- Who are you as a daughter and son of Abba Father? Ask Him to reveal to you your true identity in Him.
- What is His plans for your life?
- What is your purpose?
- What is your calling?
- Ask Him to reveal to you His character and how you need to grow into being more like Him.
- What fruits do you need to bear in this new season?
- What pruning needs to happen in this season?
- What patterns, cycles, habits needs to break or change?
- What does the new look like for you?
We all come from Abba Father and He calls us all to be holy for He is Holy. Holiness is not a religious or legalistic word. Holiness is part of who we are as children of Abba Father. Perfectness comes from Him and our example is Yeshua Messiah. We are not expected to do this on our own either. Abba Father gave us Holy Spirit, our Helper to transform us into the image and likeness of Him, Yeshua and Holy Spirit. Jesus promised us Holy Spirit as our Helper to abide with us forever if we love Him and His commandments. He promised that He will not leave us as orphans but that He will return. Yield to Holy Spirit and allow Him to guide you through this life cycle that you need to process, by being renewed and transformed from the patterns of this world, into who you where intended to be, a royal son and daughter of the Most High God, Abba Father.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. John 14:15-18 NKJV
I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. John 14:30 NKJV
This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord ’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” Lamentations 3:21-24 NKJV
But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature together with its passions and appetites. If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage--our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit]. We must not become conceited, challenging or provoking one another, envying one another. GALATIANS 5:22-26 AMP
Never retaliate when someone treats you wrongly, nor insult those who insult you, but instead, respond by speaking a blessing over them—because a blessing is what God promised to give you. 1 Peter 3:9 TPT
You, therefore, will be perfect [growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life], as your heavenly Father is perfect. MATTHEW 5:48 AMP
Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new. And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to himself, and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God. In other words, it was through the Anointed One that God was shepherding the world, not even keeping records of their transgressions, and he has entrusted to us the ministry of opening the door of reconciliation to God. We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world, as though God were tenderly pleading with them directly through our lips. So we tenderly plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Turn back to God and be reconciled to him.” For God made the only one who did not know sin to become sin for us, so that we who did not know righteousness might become the righteousness of God through our union with him. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 TPT
So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you. As God’s obedient children, never again shape your lives by the desires that you followed when you didn’t know better. Instead, shape your lives to become like the Holy One who called you. For Scripture says: “You are to be holy, because I am holy.” Since you call on him as your heavenly Father, the impartial Judge who judges according to each one’s works, live each day with holy awe and reverence throughout your time on earth. For you know that your lives were ransomed once and for all from the empty and futile way of life handed down from generation to generation. It was not a ransom payment of silver and gold, which eventually perishes, but the precious blood of Christ—who like a spotless, unblemished lamb was sacrificed for us . This was part of God’s plan , for he was chosen and destined for this before the foundation of the earth was laid, but he has been made manifest in these last days for you. It is through him that you now believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, so that you would fasten your faith and hope in God alone . 1 Peter 1:13-21 TPT
Good word!
