Grace Upon Grace

John 1:16 (AMP)
"For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth]
we have all received grace upon grace
 [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]."

The 2nd of October 2024 ushered in the new Hebraic year of 5785 celebrating the Biblical Feast of Yom Teruah also known as the Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashanah or Head of the Year or the Memorial of Blasting.

This new year has many significant meanings when looking at the numbers of 5785

As you are aware, each letter of the Hebrew alphabet has a pictograph, number and a phonetic meaning.
And this year, the number 5 is at the beginning as well as the end.
When adding 5+7+8+5 it equals to 25 giving us the multiplication of 5x5.
Next year on the Gregorian calendar, we will be in the year 2025.
The number 5 is being highlighted and with much reason for we in the year of GRACE UPON GRACE.

The number 5 in the Bible means grace, goodness and God's provision.

  • The first 5 books of the Bible are known as the books written by Moses, the Pentateuch in Greek or as the Jews would refer to as the Torah in Hebrew (Old Testament).
  • There were 5 offerings or sacrifices in the book of Leviticus: burnt offering, grain offering, peace offering, sin offering and guilt offering.
  • Think of the miracle where Jesus fed the multitude of 5000 with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish (Matthew 14; Luke 9 and John 6).
  • Matthew 25 we read about the 5 wise and 5 foolish virgins. (Interesting 5x5=25)
  • Ephesians 4 speaks about the 5-fold ministry given as a gift to the Church for the equipping of the saints.

The Gospel of Grace in 5...7...8...5
5 = Grace, God's Goodness and Provision
7 = Completion, Fullness, Perfection, Rest, it is the number for Covenant and Holy Spirit
8 = New Beginnings, Salvation, Resurrection, New Birth, Regeneration
5 = Grace, God's goodness and provision

For we have been saved by GRACE (5) through faith when we believed that Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary, purchasing us from the wages of sin that is death. Through His Blood we have redemption and all our sins are COMPLETELY (7) forgiven. He has done the works of the cross once and for all. It is therefore no longer I who live, but Christ that lives in me. I am a NEW CREATION (8), the old order has passed away for the Hope of Glory is living in me. Through His GRACE (5) I am now sealed with the Holy Spirit that is completing the good works in my spirit, soul and body according to His power that is working in me.

5 = Grace, God's Goodness and Provision

John 3:16-18 (Amplified Bible)
16 “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because [b]he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him].

Ephesians 2:5-9 (Amplified Bible)
5 even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment). 6 And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus, 7 [and He did this] so that in the ages to come He might [clearly] show the immeasurable and unsurpassed riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus [by providing for our redemption]. 8 For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

7 = Completion, Fullness, Perfection, Rest, Covenant and Holy Spirit

Romans 6:10 (Amplified Bible)
For the death that He died, He died to sin [ending its power and paying the sinner’s debt] once and for all; and the life that He lives, He lives to [glorify] God [in unbroken fellowship with Him].

Colossians 2:11-15 (The Passion Translation)
[11] Through our union with him we have experienced circumcision of heart. All of the guilt and power of sin has been cut away and is now extinct because of what Christ, the Anointed One, has accomplished for us. [12] For we’ve been buried with him into his death. Our “baptism into death” also means we were raised with him when we believed in God’s resurrection power, the power that raised him from death’s realm. [13] This “realm of death” describes our former state, for we were held in sin’s grasp. But now, we’ve been resurrected out of that “realm of death” never to return, for we are forever alive and forgiven of all our sins! [14] He canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all—our sins, our stained soul—he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation. [15] Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his!

1 Peter 3:18 (Amplified Bible)
For indeed Christ died for sins once for all, the Just and Righteous for the unjust and unrighteous [the Innocent for the guilty] so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit;..

8 = New Beginnings, Salvation, Resurrection, New Birth, Regeneration

2 Corinthians 3:14-18 (Amplified Bible)
14 But [in fact] their minds were hardened [for they had lost the ability to understand]; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed [only] in Christ. 15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil [of blindness] lies over their heart; 16 but whenever a person turns [in repentance and faith] to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from bondage, true freedom]. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (The Passion Translation)
Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.

Galatians 2:20 (Amplified Bible)
I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Colossians 3:10-11 (The Passion Translation)
[10] For you have acquired new creation life which is continually being renewed into the likeness of the One who created you; giving you the full revelation of God. [11] In this new creation life, your nationality makes no difference, nor your ethnicity, education, nor economic status—they matter nothing. For it is Christ that means everything as he lives in every one of us!

5 = Grace, God's goodness and provision

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (New Living Translation)
Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

Psalm 103:12 (New Living Translation)
He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

Micah 7:19 (Amplified Bible)
He shall again have compassion on us; He will subdue and tread underfoot our wickedness [destroying sin’s power]. Yes, You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.

Ephesians 3:20 (Amplified Bible)
Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,..

Philippians 1:6 (Amplified Bible)
I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].

The scripture says it all....

 This New Year speaks very loudly of the grace upon grace that we have as believers in Jesus Christ through His finished works on the Cross of Calvary. His grace is sufficient for us.

Father God, we thank You for the finished works of the Cross of Calvary. You are the Alpha and the Omega. You know the end from the beginning and we thank You for Your Goodness in our lives. Father it is through Your Goodness that we return to You with a repentant heart by choosing Your will and ways for our lives.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Lord, thank You for completing the good works inside of us. We ask You Holy Spirit to give us the continuous revelation of the finished works of the Cross. I declare that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. Thank You Lord, that You are my Saviour and Redeemer and that through Your Blood I am righteous and forgiven. I am loved and accepted by the Father. May this new year be filled with Your glory in our lives as we renew our minds with Your word and transform into Your image, reflecting Your glory into this dark world.

Thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for me. I declare that this year and the years ahead is filled with Your grace upon grace for me to grow from one level of glory to another. For You are the Hope of Glory on the inside of me. Amen
